What is peace?
Is it making sure lives aren’t lost?
Avoiding another Holocaust?
Is it apologizing for a fight with a friend?
Can it be as simple as that?
Will control find peace--
Such as not throwing a punch?
Or will it be tolerance--
Respecting other ethnic groups?
And how long will peace take?
Once we have it, will it shatter and break?
Will one person make peace?
Probably not.
Chances are,
It will take every one of us.
Peace is like a child;
It needs nurturing and care,
Shelter from violence and fear.
Peace is everyone’s child;
We need to help it flourish and shield it from strife.
So that our children’s children
Can live a peaceful life.
