Home

Home, a second joint production of CJL’s Young Jewish Filmmaker’s Project and docUWM (a division of the UWM Peck School of the Arts) was initially screened on May 11, 2010 during the Jewish Lens Exhibit. In this video, seven young filmmakers used animation and interview techniques to explore the meaning of “home” with local Holocaust survivors and their grandchildren. Home may be screened publicly in various venues and entered in various student competitions later this year.

The CJL/docUWM collaborative program allowed seven teens to both meet at UWM and to work on location with graduate students in film over a period of two weeks during the summer of 2009. Some of the teens continued to work on the film into the following school year. Using professional grade equipment, students acquired skills in computer animation, pre-production (brainstorming/research/ storyboarding), production (filming and lighting) and post-production (editing).

The student filmmakers were Jordan Deck, Michael Edwards, Ben Gaudynski, Max Ginkel, Dovid Litvin, Alanna Koritzinsky and Brady Palubiski.

Home was funded through a generous grant from the Helen Bader Foundation.
