What Chanukah means to me is light. The little flames on the menorah can brighten up a whole room. The lights remind us of all the miracles that G-d has done for us. Light also represents happiness and joy.
Light can easily overcome darkness. The darkness is the bad and mean things in this world, and the light is happiness, love and joy. Just the small Chanukah candles can take away lots of bad things.
Long ago the Jews had to fight a big war, clean up the Holy Temple and find enough oil to last for eight days. These are a lot of bad things. The little bit of oil that they found gave joy and happiness to everyone. When we light our own menorahs, they give joy to us, because they remind us of the great miracles that G-d did for us that had to do with light.
