Litter

When God created the world, he loved it and thought it was so beautiful that it needed someone to enjoy it as much as he did. God created man so we could take care of his beautiful creation, not wreck it.

But when people go to the beach, they leave all sorts of trash. And so many people throw trash out their car windows.

You might think, “Oh, if I leave just one little plastic bag on the beach, it won’t harm anything.” But if you leave it on the beach it can float thousands of miles to somewhere where sea turtles live. If a sea turtle mistakes a plastic bag for a jellyfish and eats it, it can die.

The plastic rings you find around cans and plastic bottles also can find their way into the ocean. They have been known to get caught around sea creatures’ necks and choke them.

But the thing I see most when I’m walking around a mall or park is cigarettes. People who smoke are not only wrecking their health, they’re harming the environment.

One way you can help is to gather a group and head to the beach for a cleanup. Another thing you can do is snip slits in the plastic rings that hold cans together. Just one simple snip can save an animal’s life.

When I see people look at litter and ignore it, I think that maybe they don’t care much about the community. But when I see people pick up litter and put it in the trash, I know that there are people out there who care and want to make a difference.
