Helping Hands

by Sarah Feiga Stein

It has a great impact on me whenever something happens to someone in our community and everyone jumps in to help. I begin to realize how one meal here and one meal there adds up.

Every Jewish person is part of a whole, and everyone will give a little bit for every need. For example, when my mother collapsed and had to go to the hospital, one of the neighbors invited us over for lunch that day, and at least three others camp to support my sister and me. My father had to go to work, so one neighbor set up play dates for us.

Three neighbors took turns having my sister and me over for Friday night Shabbos meal.

This all made me feel the love of all Yisrael. Everyone in Klal Yisrael should help their fellow Jews. This will even help to bring Moshiac, because you are demonstrating that you are a Jew and you care about your neighbors.

Teachers at Yeshiva Elementary School asked some of their 6th, 7th and 8th graders to write about something that had made a major impact on their lives.

Here are their intriguing responses.
